LEVEL 1 MECHANICS - AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE
The Mechanics Automotive Maintenance course involves three separate qualifications which offer a progression within the qualification.

Title: IMI Level 1 Certificate in Transport Maintenance

Title: IMI Level 1 Diploma in Transport Maintenance

What you will do on the course
This course covers the basic technical needs for today’s motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.
Here are some of the things you will be doing:
– Vehicle construction and routine maintenance
– Operating principles of engines, tyres, brakes, steering and suspension systems
– Operating principles and maintenance of transmission systems and electrical / electronic systems
– Understanding of health and safety in the workplace
How you will be assessed
Students will be internally assessed on this course, this will include carrying out practical tasks in a motor vehicle workshop and written tasks, along with IMI Awards set ‘online’ multiple-choice testing.
Who is the course suitable for?
This course is suitable for 14-16 year olds who wish to pursue a career in the Vehicle Maintenance and Repair sector.

LEVEL 2
CERTIFICATE IN AUTOMOTIVE MAINTENANCE
The Level 2 Certificate in Automotive Maintenance course involves the completion of the following qualification:

What you will do on the course
This is a Level 2 vocational qualification which provides individuals with an introduction to the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to gain employment or further study towards the automotive maintenance and repair industry.

– Breaking Systems
– Vehicle and Exhaust Systems
– Vehicle Ignitions springs and vehicle batteries and braking systems
– Vehicle fuel Systems
– Vehicle Liquid and air cooling systems
– Vehicle steering systems

Students will undergo a combination of internally assessed units along side synoptic assessment.
